The Yale Young Global Scholars Program (YYGS) is a high school academic enrichment and leadership development initiative administered by the Office of International Affairs (OIA). Reporting to the Director of the Yale Young Global Scholars Program (YYGS), the Asia Program Manager serves a key leadership role in the development of YYGS and is responsible for a range of activities including: develop, oversee, and execute academic and leadership programs in Asia, specifically Beijing and Singapore; design program curriculum and coordinate logistics; lead global marketing strategy and create communications materials; recruit and manage instructors; conduct student admissions and administer registration process; develop budgets, solicit donations, and write grants for scholarship donors, foundations, and other public entities; work with the Executive Director and Director on the development of programs and activities that advance Yale’s interest in China, Singapore, and other Asian countries; maintain a critical leadership role during six summer sessions in New Haven; and teach in the Yale Young Global Scholars Program.

Job Description
Principal Responsibilities
- Manage all aspects of the YYGS-Beijing and YYGS-Singapore programs.
- Create all program schedules and events, and devise all academic course materials.
- Invite speakers and faculty and liaise extensively with in-country partners to ensure timely and responsible identification and booking of lodging, catering, and field trip operators.
- Update the program websites, help draft press releases, flyers, and emails, and develop alumni network.
- Engage extensively with program participants and ensure that risk is mitigated and that appropriate protocols are observed.
- Interview, recruit, and train instructors, as well as manage instructors in-country.
- Read over 1000+ applications and arrange full range of logistics including booking flights, making hotel reservations, and arranging ground transportation.
- Develop two program budgets in excess of $200k, and file expense reports, contracts, and agreements with third party vendors.
- Translate correspondence and other materials from English to Mandarin and vice versa, and provide oral interpretation.
- Compile surveys, analyze data, draft reports, and recommend program changes and improvements.
- May perform other duties as assigned.
Required Education and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree and two years of related experience or the equivalent combination of education and related experience. Personal or professional experience working with people of diverse cultural backgrounds and a demonstrated commitment to intercultural sensitivity.
- Must be fluent in a specific foreign language.

Strong interpersonal skills, with a demonstrated ability to interact with a range of individuals including high school and college-age students, parents, faculty members, and staff on a wide variety of academic and professionally-related issues.

Demonstrated flexibility and agility in order to adapt to changing work demands and balance many projects in a high-pressure environment. Excellent organizational skills, accuracy, and attention to detail.

Excellent oral and written communication skills.

Willingness to learn new software packages and online systems such as Slate and CampDoc.

Proven experience with and/or demonstrated comfort level teaching and working with high school-age audiences, both in the United States and Asia.
Preferred Education and Experience
- Advanced degree in a field relevant to the academic content of YYGS, to include Asian Studies or other area studies, law, business, or the social sciences.
- Experience with enrichment programs, such as the Yale Young Global Scholars Program.
- Deep knowledge of Asia, to include travel, living, and/or proficiency in languages in common use in East Asian countries (e.g., Mandarin).
