The research and analysis division of the Economist Group, The Economist Intelligence Unit (EIU), is looking for an Asia Research Analyst to aid the Regional Editor in ensuring EIU production and quality.

The EIU is the global standard in providing quality, actionable intelligence to the public and private sector, assessing issues that impact the marketplace for over two hundred countries.

 

The successful candidate for this entry level position will be responsible for the production and quality of part of the EIU’s product range covering specific countries under the supervision of the Regional Editor.

 
Accountabilities:

In the role you would be expected to:

  • Ensure strong quality control over our products, ensuring information is presented in accordance with EIU style guide and conducting background research to ensure the accuracy and comprehensiveness of the informationBe responsible for the integrity and objectivity of the analysis and interpretation of events and information in your region
  • Interpret the events in your region providing an opinion on behalf of the EIU that takes into account all the various known factors
  • Produce economic and political forecasts making full use of all available information
  • Work closely and productively with the rest of the team. Actively join in discussions on the implications of the EIU global assumptions and events affecting the region
  • Respond to customer queries providing explanation and clarification regarding information contained in our publications
  • Assist the EIU sales team in promoting the sales of EIU products
  • Commission and manage contributors
Experience, skills and professional attributes:

To succeed in this role you must have:

  • Relevant degree in Economics, International relations or related subject. Ideally Master’s degree (or equivalent)
  • Desirable previous experience in writing political and economic reports for a business audience
  • Knowledge of political and economic trends in the region/main countries in the region
  • Strong writing and editing skills in English
  • The ability to juggle different tasks and types of reports, and be able to respond quickly to developments in your region
  • The ability to identify the key drivers of growth in your region
  • Knowledge of macroeconomics and forecasting
  • Understanding of the external market demand for electronic delivery of economic and political research
  • Proficiency in Word, Excel and PPT
