Full time Fellow (1 year role)

Khan Academy is looking for a talented China Strategy Fellow.

You will work with the International Market Development team to understand and expand Khan Academy’s mission to provide a free, world-class education for anyone, anywhere.  Our mission is bold and ambitious – and we need your help and expertise to make it happen.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

Monitoring China’s broader education and technology landscape, identifying focal trends and  and translating these findings into foundation projects for the International, Product and Content teams at KA team to embark on so we can foundationally set ourselves up to be successful in China in H2 2016.  

Responsibilities:

  • Working cross-functionally across Khan Academy with our Product, Content, and Internationalization team to align on current and future plans and define projects to be done
  • Managing research, outreach and relations with Chinese partners
  • Working with in-country partners to execute on new and existing projects

Candidate Profile:

  • 5-7 years of work experience, preferably in consulting, business development or product management for a global company with presence in China
  • A proven track record of driving new initiatives and cross team collaboration
  • Credibility in the education or university spheres, through work experience, credentials, or network
  • Exceptional relationship management skills
  • Experience working in startups, or in similarly fast-paced environments
  • Experience working in an international setting, travel up to 30%.
  • An entrepreneurial mindset, including a high tolerance for ambiguity, a penchant for experimentation, and a bias towards action
  • Demonstrated ability to collaborate with others and be a strong team player. You take pride in your work while also recognizing and celebrating the contributions of others
  • A bias towards data-driven thinking and decision-making
  • Savviness with technology, particularly web and mobile learning products
  • Deep familiarity with Chinese culture, customs
  • Fluency in Mandarin and English, with excellent writing skills in both  languages
  • International Relations MA or MBA is a plus

  • US, Canadian, Australian, or Mexican citizenship, US Residency, or other authorization to work in the US [unless fellow is out of country]
