Job Description

This organization offers multiple Internship Positions in Chinese Language and Arts Administration starting July 18th2016 through June 16th 2017. Applicants should ideally be recent college graduates or graduate students based in New York City with specific interests in: Chinese language, arts, music and culture; community (immigrant) services; non-profit services and organizations. This internship will award a stipend in the range of $180-$300 per week depending on time commitment.

Key Requirements

  • Proficiency in English and Chinese (Mandarin or Cantonese)
  • Preference to strong writing skills in English and ability to read and word-process Chinese
  • Outgoing, quick-witted, energetic, and able to take initiative
  • Commitment to work weekends, 2:00-6:00pm plus Saturday or Sunday 10:00am to 2:00pm

Responsibilities include (but are not limited to):

  • Assisting with scheduling and routine operation of the headquarters
  • Providing and setting up equipment & materials
  • Tracking & collecting fees and dues, and keeping accounts of revenue and expenses
  • Coordinating between clients (students and parents), and teachers, and teaching artists
  • Assisting with fund raising activities (e.g. ticket sales, donation drive, etc.)
  • Documenting and managing media (photos, videos, etc.), driving promo and outreach via e-blast, mailing, telephone & face-to-face canvassing and ‘flyering’
  • Reporting & assisting with grant writing

Terms:

  • Generally on premise at headquarters in New York City’s Chinatown (Lower Eastside)
  • May include off-site on assigned projects (events, public school programs, concerts, etc.)
  • Basic Stipend: $180-$280 per week according to adjustable work volume
  • Renewable or adjustable to part-time position pending budget and the intern’s performance
