On behalf of the German government GIZ supports Chinese institutions in developing sustainable low carbon transport systems. In China, transport accounts for almost one fifth of total carbon emissions, challenging its sustainable development. But China is stepping up to the challenge of rapid motorization and urbanization and is committed to take efforts to limit the growth of its greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions. In implementing low carbon transport interventions China can, at the same time, achieve additional sustainability benefits, such as better air quality, reduced congestion and improved road safety.

 

Established in 2010, the Sustainable Transport team of GIZ in China focuses on the development of a low carbon transport system based on five pillars:

  1. carbon accounting and emission evaluation
  2. climate protection and energy efficiency strategies
  3. electro-mobility and alternative fuels
  4. green freight logistics and
  5. sustainable urban transport

 

 

Your tasks:

 
Your main task is to support all activities related to external communication. This includes specifically the following tasks:

  • Technical maintenance of the sector blog sustainabletransport.org (technical updates, new features, etc.)
  • Content-related administration of the sector blog (articles, employees, weekly quote, downloads, etc.)
  • Social media and outreach monitoring
  • Manage the social media accounts (Twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn)
  • Further development of communication strategy and suggestions on increasing outreach quantity and quality
  • Research news stories, blogs, new initiatives and trends
  • Research, review and prepare articles for GIZ newsletters and reports
  • Improve project visibility through development of leaflets and other material
  • Monitor and update the photography database and Flickr account

Your profile: 

  • Experience within the field of „sustainable mobility‘ and ‚international climate change policy
  • Student or recent graduate with a background in communications, marketing, public relations, urban studies, environmental studies, English, or related studies
  • Interest in sustainability marketing and communications
  • Excellent written communication skills
  • Advanced IT knowledge (blog, social media, websites) and communications experience
  • Experiences with Adobe Photoshop, InDesign and Illustrator, Prezi, WordPress, Joomla and HTML are an added advantage
  • Language: English fluent (written and spoken, native speakers welcome)
  • Ability to work independently, good team player
