Counselor – Undergraduate Admissions:
Due West Education is seeking talented individuals to serve as admissions counselors on the undergraduate team. Competitive candidates will share our commitment to providing clients with experienced, professional, and ethical advice as they navigate the college application process.
The undergraduate team advises 11th- and 12th-grade students to apply to college in the United States as first-year students. We also work with college students interested in transferring. Our students are based in China, the United States, and other countries.
Responsibilities:
Intellectual Stewardship –
- Help students uncover interesting stories about themselves, brainstorm authentic essay topics, and formulate a comprehensive and cohesive college application angle
- Provide detail-oriented guidance and editing support on student essays and resumes
- Coach students on social etiquette and personal expression in preparation for interviews
Client Services –
- Encourage personal growth and realization of goals for students
- Regularly meet with parents to provide updates on student progress
- Support families with the specific problems that applicants from varied backgrounds face
Additional Responsibilities –
- Develop and execute projects that contribute to the growth of the company
- Support Course Consultant team in sales meetings to educate potential clients about our programs
- Represent the undergraduate team and Due West during presentations and marketing events
Counselor – Secondary School Admissions:
Due West Education is seeking talented individuals to serve as admissions counselors on the secondary school team. Competitive candidates will share our commitment to providing clients with experienced, professional, and ethical advice as they navigate the secondary school application process.
The secondary school counseling team works with students applying to American boarding, junior boarding, and day schools. Typically, our students are between 7th and 10th grade.
Responsibilities:
Intellectual Stewardship –
- Help students uncover interesting stories about themselves, brainstorm authentic essay topics, and formulate a comprehensive and cohesive approach for secondary school applications
- Provide detail-oriented guidance and editing support on student essays and parent statements
- Coach students on social etiquette and personal expression in preparation for interviews
Client Services –
- Counsel families through their admissions search and application process, positioning students to achieve their educational and personal goals
- Regularly meet with parents to provide timely updates on student progress
- Provide in-depth support and management of the overall secondary school application strategy
- Liaise with American independent schools to support their admissions and enrollment needs
- Support families with the specific problems that applicants from varied backgrounds face
Additional Responsibilities –

- Represent the secondary school team and Due West during presentations and marketing events
Counselor – Early Start:
Due West Education is seeking talented, experienced educators to serve in the role of Early Start Counselor. The Early Start division provides pre-admissions educational counseling to students between grades 6-10.
Responsibilities:
- Manage relations with a caseload of current and future early stage secondary and undergraduate applicants, as well as their parents or guardians
- Counsel families through the early stages of admissions planning, positioning students to achieve their educational and personal goals
- Provide in-depth support in formulating a long-term admissions strategy, including extracurricular activity development, summer program application support, interview preparation, class selection counseling, and standardized test strategy
- Promote skills development, such as essay writing, editing, reading, goal-setting, time management, and self-reflection
- Utilize our curricular approach in order to support students with timely information
- Employ experience, expertise, and knowledge to support the efforts of Due West in addressing many of the issues that international applicants face
- Develop new educational services that support the core values of the company
Counselor Qualifications
Qualifications Required:
- Bachelor’s degree or higher from an accredited American institution
- Visa eligibility (non-Chinese citizens): minimum two years post-baccalaureate work experience
- Ability to work effectively on a multi-cultural team
- Ability to work effectively with students and parents, and to develop relations with both American and Chinese middle and/or high school students
- Enthusiasm for helping others reach their potential
- Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills
- Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to grasp the big picture
- Strong English reading and writing ability
- Desire to work in a “start-up” environment
Qualifications Desired:
- Understanding of, and familiarity with, American independent schools and/or colleges
- Teaching experience and/or curriculum development experience
- Experience working with middle school or high school students
- Admissions, Development, Public Communications, or Customer Service experience a plus
- Chinese language ability or other language fluency
