Job Description
Inter Art Center / Gallery (www.intergallery.cn) is one of Beijing’s first Chinese photography galleries. With an active exhibition schedule and lively publishing program, the gallery plays a role in shaping the photography community in China, especially the world of documentary photography. The International Programs Director is the international face of the gallery. He or she will have a hand in shaping the programming of a gallery that is eager to expand its presence overseas and raise the profile of its artists in the global photography community.
Responsibilities:
-Finding opportunities to bring foreign artists to the gallery and exhibit the gallery’s artists abroad
-Coordinating art fairs, international exhibitions, talks, and other international opportunities
-Organizing and guiding overseas trips for the gallery director and artists
-Sales to international clients
-Translation and editing of exhibition materials and catalogs produced by the gallery
-Maintenance and improvement of the English website and Facebook page
Requirements:
-At least one year of experience in an art institution or cultural organization
-Native English speaker with professional proficiency in Mandarin, translation experience preferred
-Comfort working in a Chinese language environment
Compensation commensurate with experience.
Ideally, the position would begin in late October or early November.
