Princeton in Beijing is looking for an enthusiastic, energetic, and technologically savvy Program Manager. Candidate should be fluent in English and proficient in both written and spoken Mandarin Chinese. Familiarity with Princeton in Beijing and Princeton’s Chinese language program is a plus. Candidates must be able to spend approximately two months each summer on-site in Beijing. Preference will be given to candidates willing to make a commitment of at least two years, starting with training in Beijing during summer of 2015.

Responsibilities

A. Throughout the year

• Serve as travel, admissions, visa advisor to the PiB community in Beijing.

• Run day to day operations, including answering all phone calls, emails, and communication with visitors.

• Conduct marketing research and promote PiB via brochures, the PiB website and social network support for prospective students, teachers, and PiB alumni.

• Manage finances and bookkeeping, coordinate financial aid allocations, and generate financial reports and income tax filings.

• Organize annual PiB orientation in conjunction with University support services.

• Manage admissions system for both students and teachers and coordinate with admissions committee from processing of applications to follow-up procedures thereafter.

• Assist in coordination of all activities, speeches, day trips, etc. throughout the year.

• Input data from student evaluations and prepare reports for Chinese language teachers.

• Work with various Princeton University offices to ensure University compliance (Office of International Programs, Office of the Registrar, Office of Information Technology, University Health Services, Finance Office, Travel Registration, etc.).

• Update PiB-specific Living Guides, Preparation Handbooks, visa application information (visa and BNU registration how-to’s).

• Assist faculty in editing and proofreading of Chinese language teaching materials.

• Assist in textbook editorial, website maintenance and sales for the Chinese Linguistics Project within the Chinese Language Program at Princeton University.

• Provide online system/tech support for PiB faculty and prospective teachers.

 

B. Additional Summer Responsibilities

• Manage the PiB office (including open and close PiB office at the beginning and end of summer program).

• Assist in preparations for teachers’ training week.

• Serve as resident advisor and general troubleshooter for students and teachers: dorm problems, illnesses, Beijing info, travel info, etc.

• Manage summer finances and program operation budget.

• Produce weekly newsletters, email notifications, Speaker Series flyers and website maintenance.

• Coordinate office hours, all activities, speeches, day trips, etc. with BNU liaison.

• Supervise office assistant.

 

C. Desired Qualifications

• Native English speaker with Mandarin Chinese proficiency

• PiB or China experience

• Budgeting and bookkeeping experience

• Familiarity with Princeton University systems

• Proficient with Microsoft Office suite, Adobe Professional, Intuit bookkeeping software, basic HTML, and web design software

• Event coordination experience

• College Educated with at least a Bachelor degree

• Organized, creative, and detail-oriented 

• Positive attitude and great communication skills

• Available for emergencies and overtime when necessary
