The Asia-Pacific Network for Sustainable Forest Management and Rehabilitation (APFNet) is a non-profit international organization, dedicated to advancing sustainable forest management and rehabilitation in the Asia-Pacific region.

We are currently seeking a highly-motivated Program Officer to join the Communication and Outreach Division (COD), mainly responsible for carrying out the organization’s institutional communication activities, as well as programs and activities under APFNet’s pillars on policy dialogue and information sharing.

The candidate will gain insight and experience on international relations and policy development in the Asia- Pacific forestry sector and support policy dialogue and outreach programs.

The position is a fulltime position. The candidate should be able to commit to a period of at least one year. Payment is commensurate to the candidate’s qualifications and experience.

The responsibilities of the candidate include:

  •   Supporting the Policy Dialogue Coordinator and COD Program Manager in the management of policy dialogue programs – this includes coordination with stakeholders, technical reporting, event management and communications;
  •   Supporting on knowledge sharing projects and publications under policy dialogue programs;
  •   Supporting the Partnerships Coordinator in APFNet outreach activities, including high-level visits and events;
  •   Organizational support of project events (workshops, meetings, trainings, etc.); and
  •   Other duties as assigned by the COD Director.

 

Prospective candidates require:

  • Undergraduate degree preferably in environmental studies, international development or other field related to environmental management;
  •   Native English speaker (ideal), spoken and written Chinese language skills preferred;
  •   Excellent English writing skills, strong ability to analyze and summarize information;
  •   Experience in project management and communications is strongly preferred;
  •   Team player with self-management and organizational skills;
  •   Strong attention to detail; and
  •   Excellent proficiency in Microsoft Office programs.
