About the Job
The project manager role provides a great opportunity to gain exposure to microfinance and financial inclusion in China for those interested in development work. Project managers at PlaNet Finance are expected to support a variety of microfinance, financial inclusion, and development projects, with about 30% of time spent on-site in locations throughout China. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Coordinate all aspects of project implementation and budget with oversight from the Managing Director;
- Manage project staff and interns to execute day-to-day deliverables;
- Providing monthly and annual project reports for internal and external purposes;
- Communication with a variety of local partners;
- Coordinating among stakeholders and ensuring high-quality deliverables;
- Designing, leading and writing baseline and case studies;
- Increasing domestic and international visibility of projects;
- Identifying, managing, and supporting trainings for local microfinance institutions;
- Supporting on other areas of work as required.
Who we are looking for:
- Dynamic and able to engage in many different geographic and cultural environments;
- A university degree with a major in development, economics, finance, accounting, or business related field could be helpful. However, other majors are more than welcome to apply, as some of our best employees have come from liberal arts and social science backgrounds, among others;
- Chinese fluency required; advanced English preferred;
- Committed to sustainable development with a long-term view of working in China;
- Knowledge in microfinance and development fields, preferably in China;
- 1-3 years of experience with project management and implementation; consulting, NGOs, management, microenterprise, development, banking/financial services sector or other related position;
- Possess a strong command of financial practices, ideally with experience in microfinance;
- Flexible regarding domestic travel throughout China;
- Eager and willing to spend time in rural China;
- Able to work both independently and as a part of a team;
- Comfortable working with domestic and international partner organizations;
- Eager to learn and develop interests and knowledge base;
- Available to be onboard asap.
