Job Description
DEVELOPMENT Solutions (DS) is a European consultancy and serves the international donor and business community in support of sustainable development and investment objectives, primarily in emerging markets. Our work covers a wide range of fields described within four company divisions, (i) Trade and Economy, (ii) Energy and Environment, (iii) Business support for small and medium enterprises (SMEs) and (iv) Human Capacities. This expertise is built on our strong grounding in project design and management requiring research, policy analysis, capacity building and business, public and government relations expertise. We are currently seeking highly motivated individuals to join our team to assist with ongoing and foreseen projects in the Energy & Environment division. New team members will gain insight and experience in working in a multi-cultural environment with the opportunity to further develop their professional skill set in a dynamic context. A sound understanding of EU and international policy developments in the overall context of Environment & Climate Change, as well as experience with technical proposal writing, are considered as strong assets.
Projects new hires may be working on include the Trade Sustainability Impact Assessment on the Environmental Goods Agreement, the Emissions Trading Systems Summer University and the Pilot Sectoral New Market Mechanism Project.
Project officer
This is a full time position, salary dependent upon relevant experience.
Prospective candidates require:
· 1-3 years relevant experience in research, public policy, or environmental project implementation
· Undergraduate degree or higher (preferably in Environmental Studies or Sciences, International Development and Relations, Political Science or a related field)
· Excellent English skills in verbal and written communications
· Team player with demonstrated self-management and organisational skills
· Ability to work independently in a busy environment
· Strong attention to detail
· Strong computer literacy in Microsoft Office suite applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and other programmes
Project Executive (Intern)
This is a full time, paid six-month internship position, with an increase in salary at the mid-way point dependent on a successful appraisal. Should both parties be satisfied, a full-time position will be made available to the candidate on successful completion of the internship. This not a summer internship or short-term position.
