Global Maximum Educational Opportunities, Inc. (G-MEO) is a study and internship abroad provider in the Greater China area. The Recruiter will be an important player focusing on study and intern abroad in China programs in the college division team. G-MEO is dedicated to increasing the number of US university students most likely to flourish and succeed in studying abroad in China.
Located in the historic, dynamic, and the culturally diverse southwestern city of Chengdu, China, G-MEO’s flagship Chengdu American Center for Study Abroad offers a wide range of courses, taught in English, across seven academic fields, along with language training opportunities, and internships. Students enrolling in our programs can stay on track to graduate, gain valuable intercultural work & service learning experiences, travel, and have lots of fun! Our popular programs, including summer sessions, have welcomed more than 300 students in the last five years, and we are now looking to increase the enrollment by bringing on a new team member!
Reporting to the Associate Director of the College Division, the Recruiter will support our U.S. recruitment operations by managing a recruitment portfolio consisting of 4-10 colleges and universities and will serve as the front-line account manager for our Campus Ambassador training and development program. All applicants should recognize that this position is heavily deadline and results driven, particularly during our two 3-month “high seasons” for recruitment (Jan-March and Sept-Nov). The position provides a valuable opportunity to work and grow with a dynamic start-up in the international education industry.
Key responsibilities in this fast-paced, results-driven role, include:
- Planning and conducting on-site recruitment activities at assigned Colleges and Universities, while working to strengthen relationships with faculty, administrators and other staff at those schools.
- Identifying and implementing recruitment strategies, collecting student lead information and actively converting student leads into program applicants and enrollees.
- Identifying and managing campus ambassadors at assigned schools and managing training and training materials for the Campus Ambassador program.
- Acting as a liaison with assigned universities administrators
Necessary Qualifications & Experiences:
- Willingness & ability to travel, particularly during peak recruitment periods.
- Driver’s license and the ability to travel alone
- BA/BS degree or higher, preferably in one of the following fields: education, business, communications, or related.
- 2-3 years relevant experience in: recruitment, sales, higher education, or related field; or combination of experiences and skills that will enable success in this position.
- Excellent written & verbal communication and interpersonal skills.
- Personal experience with study abroad programs as either student participant, teacher, or program administrator.
Desirable qualifications or characteristics:
- A creative, problem solving, team player, capable of prioritizing multiple tasks while working within tight deadlines to deliver results.
- Highly flexible, creative, persistent, self-sufficient, & organized.
- A dynamic public speaker who is decisive, persistent, highly motivated and self-directed; able to accept guidance, but also work independently with little oversight.
- Able to communicate effectively with individuals and groups from diverse backgrounds.
- Have prior knowledge/experience of study abroad programs or international education; knowledge of China and Mandarin Chinese is desirable but not required.
- Have some personal international education, work, travel or living experience, esp. in Asia.
Compensation
Compensation for this position will be based on qualifications and experience with a competitive base salary and recruitment bonus. The company provides a matching medical insurance stipend and 10 days paid vacation per year.
