Job Description
The 100,000 Strong Foundation’s mission is to strengthen US-China relations through Mandarin language learning and study abroad. The Foundation is leading a national movement to ensure that the next generation of Americans is equipped to engage effectively with China. The 100,00 Strong Foundation engages US and Chinese government, business and academic communities in our efforts to expand the number and diversity of Americans studying Mandarin and studying abroad in China. We invest in strategic partnerships at the state and local level, and mobilize a robust group of student ambassadors to promote the Foundation’s mission at the grassroots level. The 100,000 Strong movement is a centerpiece of the U.S.-China Consultation on People-to-People Exchange (CPE), the official bilateral dialogue to discuss deepening connections between our two societies.
Basic Functions:
The research assistant (RA) will support the activities of the President, Senior Vice President, and Program Associate in the following areas
➢ Research on issues and organizations related to study abroad in China, education, and diversity
➢ Editing and proofreading organizational newsletters, manuals, and correspondences
➢ Assisting with the management of event planning logistics and other tasks as requested.
➢ Perform administrative duties including but not limited to: organizing contact list and tracking media coverage of the Foundation.
➢ Participate in special projects as needed.
Education:
Current undergraduate or graduate student
Knowledge:
Interest in and general understanding of US-China relations. A student currently focusing on US-China relations is preferred. Mandarin language is not required, but preferred.
Skills and Abilities:
➢ Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint (Knowledge of Sales Force and Campaign Monitor is a plus)
➢ Strong interpersonal and communication skills
➢ Ability to independently conduct research
➢ Highly organized and detail oriented
➢ Team Player mindset
