- The individual will be part of the International Communications team (IR department) and will report to the Director of International Communications.
- Spokesperson on specific areas: The position will require an individual who can speak with accuracy and authority in delivering Baidu’s message, in responding to international media questions
- Evangelism: Public speaking on Baidu issues—telling our stories, conveying Baidu’s mission, values, and culture
- Thought leadership: Identifying and executing on opportunities to share Baidu’s vision in appropriate media outlets
- “Internal reporting”—regular, frequent, in-depth discussions with product team leaders, R&D personnel, and ordinary Baidu employees across the company for purposes of keeping the IR/International Communications team abreast of the latest from product teams (new products, new features), R&D staff (progress on ongoing R&D, new areas of research and development), great stories to share with media.
- Daily news flow: Assist with tracking news about Baidu, our local industry peers, and our international peers in the Internet sector
- Help to create overall communications strategy and craft messaging
- Cultivate excellent relations with international media organizations and individual reporters, and with industry influencers
Desired Skills and Experience:
- Native or nearly-native English speaker
- Excellent spoken Mandarin, and proficient Chinese reading (writing not critical)
- Deep interest in the Chinese Internet sector
- Insatiably curious and quick on the uptake
- Outstanding English communication skills: writing, presentation, public speaking
- High level of personal charisma, and strong people skills
- Experience in Public Relations or in journalism (preferably technology or business journalism)
- Good sense for how the news business works
- Worldly and cosmopolitan: International work experience preferred
- Strategic and creative thinker
- Strong sense of professional ethics
