Elite Scholars of China (ESC) is looking for a full-time Senior SAT Instructor to join our team in Beijing. The ideal candidate is an experienced educator  with an ability to connect with and inspire students. In addition, ESC Instructors prioritize recognizing each student’s inherent potential for continuous growth. 

Senior SAT Instructor

As a Senior SAT Instructor, you will provide instruction to highly motivated high school students in small classroom setting and in one-on-one tutoring. You will monitor student understanding and adjust classes and tutoring based on individual student needs and in coordination with team members, as appropriate. Additionally, you will help to develop and refine the ESC SAT curriculum. This is a great opportunity for you to further develop your teaching, curriculum development and leadership skills. As ESC will be investing heavily in your professional growth and development, this is a two year contract.   

Teaching and tutoring sessions are typically after school, on weekends and during school holidays. Depending on time of year, teaching and tutoring can range from approximately 12 hours/week during slow times to approximately 30 hours/week during peak times, right before a test.    

Teaching Community 
ESC has a vibrant teaching community.  As the Senior SAT Instructor you will be joining the Student Educational Services (SES) Team of five professionals, which is led by a master SAT teacher with over 15 years  test prep experience. In addition, members of SES work closely with ESC’s 30 Educational Consultants, our college counselors, who are American graduates of US colleges and universities.  We prioritize creating a collaborative and supportive teaching environment – for both the professionals and students.   

Qualifications

• Teaching experience required 
• Experience teaching/tutoring SAT strongly preferred
• SAT Evidence Based Reading and Writing scores above 700
• Experience working with high school students preferred
• Excellent reading, writing and presentation skills
• Highly personable and able to foster strong relationships with students and ESC team members
• Able to work well with students, build their confidence, and encourage their ideas
• Will uphold the values and high ethical standards of ESC
• Strong interest in education and belief in the strength of mentorship
• Excited about a dynamic work environment 

Compensation and Benefits

Annual salary with bonus is commensurate with experience. Starting salary and bonus is USD 48,000 and may be adjusted upwards based on experience. Due to tax requirements and social security benefits, the salary range for Chinese nationals is adjusted slightly.  

ESC will cover the costs of one-way travel to Beijing.  Upon completion of the first year of the contract, ESC will provide up to USD 650 in airfare to visit home or another location of the instructor’s choosing. ESC will also arrange and pay for a Chinese visa. 

ESC team members enjoy a range of benefits including 14 paid vacation days (in addition to the 10 days of Chinese national holidays), subsidized healthcare, a gym subsidy and other professional development and wellness programs. For new team members not currently residing in Beijing, ESC will provide a Relocation Expert to assist with finding an apartment in Beijing.
