Job Summary
The Department of Languages, Literatures, and Cultures at the University of New Hampshire is seeking a full time, tenure-track position at the rank of Assistant Professor of Chinese.

Besides teaching two courses each semester and advising students, the candidate will contribute to the success of the study abroad programs in China. Ability to teach a course in Chinese literature in translation or in comparative culture, including film, is highly desirable. Demonstrated ability to work with faculty, staff, and students as well as community groups of diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, sexual orientation, disability, and ethnic backgrounds is required. 

Acceptable Minimum Qualifications 
The successful candidate will have completed the Ph.D. by the time of employment (August 2016) and will have demonstrated a deep interest in undergraduate teaching, a vigorous and active commitment to scholarship, and a willingness to participate in the service obligations of the program, the department and the University. While the particular area of scholarship is open, the position requires a broad interest in classical and contemporary Chinese culture and society. Further requirements include: native or near-native command of Mandarin Chinese, with standard pronunciation, as well as of English; familiarity with both traditional and simplified Chinese characters; formal pedagogical training in foreign language instruction; and a record of outstanding and inspiring teaching at all levels of Chinese (particularly the fourth-year level) at an American college or university.
