Job Description
Position Summary
The CICSU Program Coordinator is a 9 month, .75 FTE, Administrative Professional position primarily responsible for delivering K-12 outreach educational programs in the local school district and the community. The Program Coordinator will also be asked to assist in coordinating other CICSU programs and activities. The position reports to the Associate Director of CICSU.
This position requires occasional evening or weekend hours for event coordination, as well as a valid Colorado Driver’s License or the ability to obtain a valid Colorado Driver’s License (or alternate means of personal transportation) and the willingness to travel to schools and locations off-campus for regular meetings and events. The successful candidate must demonstrate U.S. employment eligibility; CSU will not provide visa sponsorship for this position.
Responsibilities
- Deliver K-12 Chinese cultural programming and teach Chinese language enrichment courses to K-12 learners, using established Confucius Institute curriculum. Select appropriate teaching materials, classroom aids, cultural props and other materials for Chinese language courses and cultural programming. Ensure students are engaged and motivated.
- Develop and organize additional K-12 lesson plans and teaching materials for cultural enrichment programs for the local school district and community on China and contemporary Chinese culture, as requested.
- As part of the CICSU team, organize and help implement other special programming throughout the school year. Provide other administrative support to CICSU operations as needed.
Required Job Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in a liberal arts area
- Native and/or bilingual level Standard Mandarin Chinese proficiency, both written and verbal
- Experience teaching Chinese language and culture to K-12 students in the United States
- In-depth knowledge of Chinese culture and current events
- Strong communication skills in English
Preferred Job Qualifications
- Master’s degree
- Experience working in a Confucius Institute as an instructor
- Experience developing K-12 curriculum related to Chinese language, culture, and performing arts
- Strong interpersonal skills
- Excellent organizational skills
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office
