Competencies:
• Bachelor’s Degree with major in Translation or English from an accredited university – more than 3 years’ translation experience in the aviation industry will be an advantage
• Possess proficiency in the English and Chinese languages, as well as the ability to interpret for Boeing executives and translate both aviation-related and general documents between the two languages
• Able to independently, or with minimal guidance, follow internationally established code of ethics for translators/interpreters: maintain strictest confidentiality, professional conduct, as well as professional competency and development; and remain impartial to accurately convey the message without intentionally adding or deleting content
• Possess expertise in office computing systems and software for text editing, presentation, web browsing, and email
• Able to be a self-motivated individual who can work well under general guidance, without close supervision for directions
• Able to work well under pressure, either as part of a team or independently 
• Able to travel, including at a short notice when required

 

Job Details:
• Provide translation and interpretation as required to support Boeing’s various business activities in China 
• Translate technical documents and communications, as well as provide language interpretation during meetings, teleconferences, reviews, and training 
• Develop working knowledge of program subject matter and maintain reference materials to support translation and interpretation processes 
• Confer with writers, Company team members, business partners, external customers, and other technical experts to ensure that the technical accuracy and the intended meaning of the communication are clearly conveyed 
• Apply knowledge of national and business cultures and customers to support meetings 
• Develop and manage the Company’s translation supplier network 
• Act as a coach and mentor, as applicable, to provide guidance and assistance and ensure that terminology is used in a consistent manner
• Develop solutions to a variety of problems of moderate scope and complexity by referring to established precedents, policies, procedures, and practices for guidance
• Travel to various domestic and international locations to support meetings as needed

This requisition is for an international, locally hired position. Candidates must be legally authorized to work in the country where the position is located. This job may be a Level 2 or Level 3 position, which will be determined by the level of experience and qualifications of the selected candidate, in relation to the scope and responsibilities of the position. Benefits and pay are determined at the local level and are not part of any Boeing U.S.-based payroll.
